Innovative architectural solutions honouring faith
The Mindszentyneum was awarded the Architectural Excellence Award in the Public Building/Secular category. The innovative contemporary museum showcases the legacy of Cardinal József Mindszenty with unique architectural solutions, including a perforated “mantle” façade that creates special lighting effects. TSPC Group provided general design, project management, climate design (CEED), environmental design and technical control services for the project. Konkrét Stúdió was our partner in the design and ZÁÉV Zrt. was our partner in construction.
The jury’s statement said. The perforated aluminium lamella facade of the building is a “membrane”, a reference to the sacral meaning of the building, which conceals intimate interior spaces. “The atrium and the grand staircase connected to the atrium impress the visitor, while the rotunda-shaped, high-ceilinged space is centred around the full-length white statue of Cardinal Mindszenty.”
