The feasibility study of the New Clinical Block of the University of Debrecen Clinical Center is complete, which is the cornerstone of further planning and implementation processes.

The University of Debrecen Clinical Center is one of the largest healthcare organizations in Hungary, however, its infrastructural background is currently very heterogeneous and fragmented. In order to increase sustainability, efficiency, and the quality of patient care, it has become essential to review the operation of the sites and to develop a long-term, scheduled development concept.

During the preparation of the feasibility studies, we have examined several locations, installations, mass formations, and scheduling options in order to develop a solution that best fits the University’s medical concept, keeping in mind the long-term development strategies of the institution and the city.

The construction of the New Clinical Block provides an opportunity to free up buildings and gain new functions by integrating and regrouping professions. An important element of the plan is that all merged or relocated departments operate in better conditions and eliminate duplication.

As part of the investment on nearly 140.000 m2 the implementation of the below functions is planned:

700 new beds – inpatient and outpatient care

integrated educational function

health plaza

support functions

car park

As a result of the 21st century hospital development, a health campus capable of accommodating SMART technologies will be created, which will strengthen not only the healing functions but also the educational activities of the University and the economic potential of the city. We hope to report on further details of the planning soon.
