The early history of the building
Located in Budapest’s Kossuth square, the Szabad György Office Building stands on the site of the former MTESZ Headquarters, which once housed the Federation of Technical and Scientific Association. As part of Budapest’s historic government district, this location has long been a center for administration and decision-making. With its close proximity to the Parliament, the site has always played an integral role in the country’s political and technical landscape.

TSPC Group’s engineering expertise
TSPC Group played a key role in the technical supervision and engineering oversight of the new 11,000 m² office building, ensuring its seamless integration into the historic urban fabric of Kossuth square. The Szabad György Office Building now serves as a high-quality workplace for 300 employees of Parliament’s Office, blending modern functionality with respect for Budapest’s architectural heritage.

- Seamless infrastructure integration: The building incorporates the surface hall of the Kossuth square metro station, ensuring that public transport infrastructure is naturally accommodated within the office complex.
- Engineering challenges & tunnel construction: A connecting tunnel between the office building and the Parliament was constructed using prefabricated elements and open-trench technology. Specialized insulation techniques were required to ensure its long-term durability.
- Mitigating vibrations from public transport: Given its location next to tramway lines, the building required special elements to dampen vibrations, ensuring a stable and comfortable working environment.
- Respecting the historic character of Kossuth square: Preserving the historical significance of the surroundings was a priority throughout the project.

Thanks to TSPC Group’s services, the Szabad György Office Building is not only a state-of-the-art workspace but also a model of engineering innovation in a protected historic environment.
